Rogelio “Roy” Velez accepted Christ as Savior at age fifteen while living at the Rio Grande Children’s Home. While under the ministry of Evangelist Valente Hernandez, at a youth camp in Hidalgo, Mexico, he was called to preach. Immediately after high school graduation, Bro. Velez left to attend Bible college. During that summer the Lord revealed other plans. Through a series of events, including a serious automobile crash, he returned to Mission, Texas. Shortly thereafter Dr. Billy J. McClain was called to pastor Iglesia Bautista Colonial since the founding pastor had been lead to start another church. For almost nine years Bro. Velez served as associate pastor of the church under Dr. McClain. In January of 2000 the church called Bro. Velez as pastor. God has blessed the ministry of Colonial Baptist Church with opportunities to organize churches in Mexico and the USA and start a Bible institute. Through these opportunities the ministry of Missions In Action International has taken root. Bro. Velez and his wife, Sheila, have three children, Nathaniel Scott, Diana Christine, and Gabriella Abigail. |
